For nearly four decades, Morocco has made South-South cooperation a strategic pillar of its African diplomacy. Through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), the Kingdom has multiplied scholarships, training programs, and technical partnerships to strengthen the continent’s human and institutional capacities, in line with the royal vision of a united and prosperous Africa.
Created in 1986 with the mission of developing cooperation among peoples by expanding and strengthening cultural, scientific, economic, and technical ties between Morocco and partner countries linked by friendship and cooperation, the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) has positioned itself as a major pillar of South-South cooperation in Africa, driven by the vision of King Mohammed VI. Placing education and expertise-sharing at the heart of relations, in 2025–2026 nearly 8,000 foreign students—mostly from sub-Saharan Africa—are benefiting from active scholarships in Morocco.
Since its creation, more than 35,000 graduates have been trained, becoming executives, engineers, doctors, and senior civil servants across the continent. As part of increased national quotas, around 250 scholarships have been granted to Chad for 2025–2026, and nearly 200 to Niger, in strategic fields such as healthcare, engineering, agriculture, and digital technology. Beyond academic studies, the Agency manages hundreds of technical training programs each year, supported by more than 1,000 cooperation agreements signed with several African countries over the past decade.
Working in close coordination with Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, as well as various Moroccan ministerial departments and national partners, AMCI embodies a diplomacy of co-development aligned with the royal vision of a united and prosperous Africa.
