Zoom : Morocco – OCP targets 20 million tons by 2027

The OCP Group, the world’s leading phosphate producer, holds 68% of global reserves—equivalent to 74 billion tons. In response to steadily rising global demand for fertilizers, OCP plans to increase its production capacity to 20 million tons by 2027. A major milestone in supporting global food security and sustainable agriculture.

With 68% of global reserves, estimated at 74 billion tons, the OCP Group stands as a key player in global agriculture. Today, the company is preparing to scale up its production, with the goal of reaching 20 million tons by 2027.

“The OCP Group is a century-old group, and today we are preparing for the next century. We want to still be here in a hundred years. But that requires a special effort and a special vision. That is why I truly commend the spirit of recognizing our success and celebrating it. We have contributed something unique to our fellow citizens.”

This expansion is not only economic—it is also part of a sustainable approach, with innovative technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact while maintaining high productivity.

“Fertilizers account for about 50% of food production, which is a positive outlook. However, without fertilizers, we would only be able to feed half of the world’s population. They play a crucial role in the health of plants and soils, influencing not only quality but also the productivity of the land we depend on for food.”

From Morocco to the rest of the world, phosphate remains central to both food and environmental challenges. On the ground, these investments translate into more efficient and environmentally friendly fertilizers. Committed to the ecological transition, OCP is also investing in greener industrial processes and renewable energy

By targeting 20 million tons by 2027, the OCP Group reaffirms its position as a strategic giant in the global phosphate market, while supporting food security and sustainable agriculture. The OCP Group intends to remain a cornerstone of this transition.
