Kenya : at least 15 victims in gold mine collapse in the west of the country

Kenya: at least fifteen people have died and more than a dozen others have been injured following the collapse of an artisanal gold mine in Rumos Hills, West Pokot County, in western Kenya, according to local authorities and the Kenyan Red Cross. The incident reportedly occurred after a rockfall struck miners engaged in informal extraction activities. Rescue operations, involving police, the Red Cross and volunteers, are still ongoing at the site, where sounds detected beneath the rubble are raising hopes that some survivors may still be trapped, rescuers said.
