DR Congo: 202 Ebola Deaths Recorded Since Mid-May 2026

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has claimed 202 lives since it emerged in mid-May, according to the Africa CDC. The health agency has confirmed 875 laboratory-tested cases, putting the case fatality rate at 23%. In neighboring Uganda, 19 cases, including two deaths, have also been reported. In response to the spread of the rare Bundibugyo strain, the World Health Organization and the Africa CDC have declared international and continental public health emergencies, respectively.
