Niger: A non-aggression agreement required for the reopening of the border with Benin

Niger has made the reopening of its border with Benin conditional on the signing of a defense and security agreement based on the principle of non-aggression, prohibiting any use of either country’s territory against the other. Niamey is also demanding transparency regarding foreign military deployments near the borders and the establishment of a joint intelligence unit. These conditions, described as non-negotiable by the Nigerien authorities, aim to strengthen security and bilateral cooperation.
