Burkina Faso : Malaria Prevention Campaign Targets 5 Million Children in 2026

The Permanent Secretariat for Malaria Elimination (SP/Palu) has launched the 2026 seasonal chemoprevention campaign, dubbed “CPS Plus,” targeting nearly 5 million children aged 3 to 59 months. The first round, scheduled from June 25 to 28, is expected to reach more than 1.2 million children. According to health authorities, the strategy is based on door-to-door distribution and fixed sites, with an integrated approach that includes malnutrition screening, vaccination catch-up, and the destruction of mosquito breeding sites. The campaign is supported by a budget of around 5 billion CFA francs, of which 2.7 billion is allocated to seasonal chemoprevention.
