DR Congo: Cooperation with UNESCO in Support of the Professionalization of Teaching

The Democratic Republic of the Congo and UNESCO have signed an agreement in Kinshasa to operationalize the Teacher Training Institutes (IFME), with the aim of professionalizing the teaching workforce and improving the quality of education. Supported also by the French Development Agency (AFD), the project, endowed with $4.49 million for the 2026–2028 period, provides for the establishment of a modern teacher training system, the strengthening of sector governance, and the implementation of a monitoring and quality assurance framework.
