Senegal: Supreme Court rejects appeal seeking to hold municipal elections before August 25

Senegal’s Supreme Court has rejected a petition by the “Noo Lank” citizens’ collective calling on the president to set the date for departmental and municipal elections before August 25, 2026. The high court cited the separation of powers and the absence of a decree subject to legal challenge, leaving the executive branch responsible for setting the electoral calendar.
