Guest of the Day – Brian Deaver, CEO of AMCE – United c States of America : “Cameroon will benefit from the hospital’s presence in ways that extend beyond its economic impact.”
Nearly 6,000 patients, West Africa’s first open-heart surgery, its first lung cancer radiotherapy: in little over a year, Abuja’s African Medical Centre of Excellence has rewritten what specialised care in Africa can look like. Now Afreximbank is betting on Cameroon as its next site, after a framework deal signed in March 2026 and a 10-hectare land agreement sealed in July. AMCE’s CEO, Brian Deaver, joins us to discuss turning that promise into a hospital: how far the project has come, who will pay for it, and who will actually be able to walk through its doors.
