In Chad, persistent insecurity in the Lac Province led to the displacement of more than 16,000 people in the first quarter of 2026, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The region, frequently affected by attacks from armed groups, recorded 63 security incidents between January and March, despite a decline compared to the previous quarter. These acts of violence resulted in 22 deaths, 36 injuries, and 109 kidnappings, further worsening an already critical humanitarian situation for thousands of displaced households.
