In Mauritania, coast guards intercepted a boat on Friday coming from Gambia carrying 223 irregular migrants from several West African countries, including Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire. According to the authorities, the operation is part of maritime surveillance and rescue missions. The migrants, including women and minors, were taken care of in line with humanitarian and legal procedures, amid a rise in irregular crossings toward Europe.
