This position makes it an important commercial crossroads. With a population exceeding 1.27 million inhabitants, the city is experiencing strong growth thanks to industrial and port development.

Long known for its commercial and tourism role, Tangier has now become a major industrial hub. The automotive industry plays a central role there, with an annual turnover of around 125 billion dirhams and production of more than 700,000 vehicles per year. In addition, the textile, aerospace, and logistics sectors also contribute to its economy.

The true economic heart of the region is the Tanger Med port complex, considered the largest port in Africa and the Mediterranean. In 2025, Tanger Med confirms its role as a global maritime trade hub with record results: around 11 million containers handled and nearly 161 million tons of goods. The port also facilitated the passage of nearly 900,000 vehicles, both imported and exported.
