The Tanger Med port complex embodies Morocco’s strategic ambition to establish itself as a leading logistics and maritime hub at both the African and international levels. With a capital of 1.7 billion, this integrated platform spans approximately 1,000 hectares of industrial zones and brings together several major industrial clusters, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, logistics and textile sectors. This structured ecosystem aims to develop a competitive industrial base capable of supporting global trade.
For more than six years, we have been the leading container port in Africa, and for the past two years, we have also been the leading port in the Mediterranean. As such, we serve as a continental transshipment hub. So why is this role important? Because logistical connectivity for the African continent is essential to ensuring the continuity of supply chains to and from Africa.

By promoting trade integration and strengthening intra-African commerce, the development of the Tanger Med port provides important lessons for the continent, particularly within the framework of the AfCFTA.
In addition to being the leading port in the Mediterranean and the leading port in Africa, Tanger Med is also Morocco’s leading import-export platform. We handle more than 50% of Morocco’s imports and exports. So we have a direct impact on the Moroccan economy, not only through the port sector, because I should point out that alongside the port platform, we are developing an industrial platform that today hosts more than 1,000 companies across various industrial sectors. Last year, these companies generated nearly 13 billion dollars in export value and have so far created more than 90,000 jobs.

As part of its expansion strategy, the Tanger Med Group has strengthened its role beyond the main port, currently managing 11 ports and 25 terminals across Morocco and Benin. The group now handles a total volume of 187 million tonnes and 11.44 million TEUs, further consolidating its position in the regional logistics sector.
Tanger Med is an operator, developer and manager of port, logistics and industrial platforms. We are present both through the Tanger Med port and industrial complex and through 24 terminals that handle both containerized and bulk cargo flows.

In 2025, Tanger Med confirmed its strong growth, handling more than 11 million TEUs and 160 million tonnes of cargo. The port also recorded 16,686 port calls and welcomed 1,319 mega-ships, reflecting continued improvements in performance and operational efficiency.
