ECOWAS REPORT – Zoom : more than 30 destinations served by ASKY

Air transport is booming in West Africa, driven in particular by the dynamism of the pan-African airline ASKY Airlines. By strengthening its fleet and expanding its routes, ASKY is consolidating the continental influence of its Lomé hub, which is emerging as a regional pivot.

Air transport is a key driver of trade in West Africa. ASKY Airlines, founded in 2010 at the initiative of Gervais Koffi Djondo and based in Lomé, Togo, has established itself as a major player in the sector. The airline has recently strengthened its fleet, bringing its number of aircraft to 15 with the delivery, on November 27, 2025, of a Boeing 737 MAX 8. For management and maintenance, ASKY benefits from a strategic partnership with Ethiopian Airlines. It also collaborates with key regional financial institutions such as the West African Development Bank (BOAD), the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), and the Ecobank Group.

ASKY is an airline whose headquarters is based in Lomé. Its objective is to ease congestion and decentralize Africa through the destinations we currently serve. Our goal is to ensure connectivity and smooth exchanges between passengers and cargo so that Africa can become more developed.

This acquisition is part of ASKY’s network expansion strategy, marked by the launch, on August 2nd, 2025, of a new route to Nouakchott. Now the airline’s 30th destination, this route strengthens the strategic role of the Lomé hub in connecting West, Central, and Southern Africa, facilitating trade, population mobility, and economic opportunities across the continent.

ASKY’s main strength lies first in safety and security, which are absolute priorities for us. We also place great importance on onboard comfort, the quality of service offered to our customers, and above all, punctuality. We are committed to respecting schedules across our entire network, except in unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. Our objective is clear: to guarantee an excellent level of service.

ASKY plays a key role in African integration despite costs, taxes, and infrastructure challenges. As a participant in the African Union’s Single African Air Transport Market, it supports free trade, tourism, and development. With 15 aircraft (9 Boeing 737-800 and 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8), ASKY currently serves 30 cities in 27 African countries.

Today, some countries like Burkina Faso also benefit from visa exemptions. This measure aims to facilitate exchanges, meetings, and the emergence of opportunities, allowing Africa to reposition itself. Our continent is rich, and this wealth can only flourish through mixing, exchange, and sharing. The pan-African airline is here for that: to ensure connectivity between all passengers traveling from one country to another.

Since 2010, ASKY has prioritized cooperation for its growth. Thanks to its partnership with Ethiopian Airlines and its international agreements, the airline is expanding its presence and reaching a diverse customer base. Despite challenges, ASKY remains optimistic and is banking on strengthened collaboration to become a major player in African aviation, contributing to the continent’s integration and development.
