UNESCO has recognized the Yangambi forest reserve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a model in a global analysis of protected sites facing climate change. Located in the Congo Basin, the area combines conservation with human activity through agroecological practices and initiatives aimed at reducing pressure on the forest. It also stands out for its scientific infrastructure, including a CO₂ measurement tower, which helps improve understanding of its key role in carbon capture and storage.
