Mozambique : tourism accounts for just 0.92% of GDP in 2025

Tourism accounted for only 0.92% of Mozambique’s GDP in 2025, well below government targets, according to a report from the Ministry of Finance. This underperformance, described as weak and declining compared to national ambitions, came despite a rise in tourist arrivals, estimated at 1.27 million visitors. The report highlights the need for structural reforms to revive a sector whose contribution remains insufficient against growth projections set for 2029.
