Tanzania : closure of a camp hosting Burundian refugees in Nduta, in the northwest.

Tanzania has closed the Nduta camp in the northwest of the country, which was home to thousands of Burundian refugees, with almost all of them having been repatriated under an agreement between Dar es Salaam and Bujumbura aimed at their gradual return. According to NGOs and UN agencies, the operations were accompanied by significant pressure denounced by human rights organizations, while the UNHCR maintains that the repatriation is part of a voluntary process agreed upon with the authorities of both countries.
